Solve your problems with the magic deep inside you
It's a major step to seek help, and finding the right therapist is a difficult choice. People want to feel safe and respected. They want their issues treated with insight, understanding, and real expertise. Above all they want neither endless talk nor a couple of days of feeling good, but real change and effective results. (See also: Do you need psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, CBT or counselling? and What my clients in Bristol say about psychotherapy, counselling, and CBT)
Am I the right person to help you? To find out, I invite you to explore the in-depth information on this website. Is is based on my 30 years wide-ranging experience of the world of personal development. Some of it is unique and not to be found elsewhere on the internet.
If you feel I may be who you are looking for, please don't hesitate to ring me directly, and if necessary meet me, in Bristol or Taunton, for a free half-hour initial meeting. (0845-3510604 / 0117-955-0490). It's really important that you feel safe with who you go to see, and know that they have the wide experience needed to be effective.
My work is different. Again and again, clients who've been to other therapists tell me that I am the first person who has actually helped them.
The commonest question people ask me is "I saw a counsellor for 10 weeks [or months]. I understood things better but nothing actually changed. Will this really be different?" My answer is an emphatic "Yes."
With the right approach, a relatively short number of sessions can get to the heart of the matter and create the process of change that you need.
I aim to advertise with integrity, and only offer you what is real. The inescapable reality is that some issues take a longer time. That's life. No therapy whatever can avoid or shorten that. And sometimes there are challenging outside circumstances. But it is very real that often pivotal change can happen in a short time.
My approach is an invitation, and a challenge, to discover that you are magic - that is real, too. Whether you believe it or not, within you, you have hidden treasures. You have resources ranging from fun to fearlessness, from acceptance to assertivness, enough to heal whatever problem faces you. You have within you the ability to live life calmly and wisely, with strength and tenderness, with love and joy, achieving far more, and feeling far happier, than you might have ever imagined possible. And you have all the amazing abilities of the unconscious mind, plus the power of conscious ("mindful") choice.
I am expert in helping people to remember, or discover, these positive parts of themselves. It brings so much self-belief when you do so. I'm intuitive in understanding the hidden roots of a problem, and when you make friends with the hidden root, so much suddenly becomes possible.
My wide ranging 30 years' experience of the world of personal development has shown me just how much change and happiness is possible. You can solve your problems, you can feel positive, you can have loving relationships. I don't want anyone to settle for less.
What issues do I work with? - whatever life is throwing at you. That includes all the problems in the panel on the left, plus also relationship counselling. In addition, I have specialist programmes using hypnosis, hypnotherapy and psychotherapy in Bristol, London and Taunton for stress, weight and eating, smoking, insomnia, panics, fears and phobias, depression and confidence. Nobody is an expert on everything, certainly not me. Things I don't deal with include among others pain management, severe addiction, and OCD which is more than mild. Ring me and ask, I will say if not.
One day, you'll look back and
see your problem left behind.
To do that, you have to take a first step forward.
To make an appointment, or to find out how I can help you, please just ring and speak to me directly.
I'm happy to talk or, in Bristol and Taunton, to arrange a free half-hour introductory meeting.

About different therapies
Sometimes, relating is painful, commitment elusive. True intimacy may be challenging. If it comes to that point, deciding whether to stay or go may be painfully unclear. In relationship counselling and marriage guidance (couples therapy) I work with the whole person to help reconnect with love, trust, confidence, sexual pleasure, assertion, independence and joy. I integrate work for emotions, communication, thinking patterns, behaviours and individual healing. I work with singles or one or both partners (often one is enough) and with all phases of relating - finding a partner, deepening the relationship, finding commitment, and if necessary with separating and recovering.
Try this: just close your eyes and think of something delightful - a flower, your favourite food or music, someone you love. Focus on that for a full two minutes. As you do, you are starting to enter hypnosis - hypnosis is that simple. Many common preconceptions are just wrong:-
Hypnosis is relaxing and 100% safe. But it's not in itself therapeutic. Hypnotherapy is therapy using hypnosis to help re-programme the unconsious mind. (FAQ on hypnosis). Over 10,000 scientific research papers testify to the effects, causes or benefits of hypnotherapy. Hypnosis really works. It is the most research-validated form of complementary therapy.
Psychotherapy refers to a range of very different ways of helping people mentally, emotionally and behaviourally. Hypno-psychotherapy refers to using hypnosis to deepen and empower a variety of therapeutic techniques to access the unconscious mind, release trauma or deal with deeper-seated issues.
Cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) focusses on how what we think and say to ourselves influences how we feel and act. I work extensively with such self-talk or inner dialogue, but I add a lot more. While CBT has achieved fame in the NHS as the "best" or "most research-supported" therapy, this is misleading. In my wide experience of the whole world of personal change, CBT is no more than one component, no matter how essential, of a complete therapy package.
Don't put up with feeling down - do something about it. To make an appointment, or to find out how I can help you, please just ring and speak to me directly.
I'm happy to talk, or in Bristol and Taunton to arrange a free, half-hour introductory meeting.
